The Hotel is 5 star and the rating is justified. I used services at the hotel like laundry and ate at one of their fine restaurants. Service was excellent and No Western hotel could compare with the type of service provided at the New Otani. We took breakfast both Japanese and Western. The food was prepared very well but the taste was so-so.

The location was great. Four stops from Osaka station. 12 minute walk to Osaka Castle. My son is a history buff and his main purpose was to see Osaka Castle. We had a perfect view from our room.

We visit Japan often and this is our absolute favorite hotel in Osaka and one of our top three in all of Japan. We are travel bloggers and have a Youtube channel exclusively about Japan, and have featured this hotel in several videos. First stayed here in 2005. Stayed here three times in the past six months alone. Its a sumptuous hotel with sumptuous and grand detailing. Very attentive staff.

In April 2023, I stayed for 8 nights and 9 days. The hotel is generally over 20 stories tall, so staying on higher floors guarantees a good view. The room was spacious enough to feel comfortable. If you prioritize an open view and room size, this hotel might be optimized for you. The hotel is located right in front of Umeda Station, making it convenient to access department stores and other facilities in the area.

Firstly, if you are arriving by train, you are going to struggle to find the hotel. Somewhat ironically it should be super easy to locate, as it sits on top of a train station (donโt let that put you off, you hear & feel nothing, & does make getting about Osaka easier). But google maps will send you wrong (exit 11 is the one you need), and then you have to locate the Swissotel lift and take it to the 6th floor where you exit and then wander about a bit (and follow others) to locate the lobby to check in, and then take a completely different set of lifts to your room. And then when going out, you go down to the hotel lobby on 6th floor, walk back to find the original lifts, and take them down to the groundโฆ you get used to it, but we were helped by another couple when we arrived who explained they were confused too, and then in turn we helped another coupleโฆjust all rather annoying and easily fixed with better signage. Then onto the 2nd set of those lifts.

We had booked 2 rooms and i requested for connecting rooms which they accepted and agreed to arrange (not try to but said ok to do arrange which is awesome). The service team was polite and welcoming. Bell boys were super helpful. Housekeeping team was also very fast. The review below was made in comparison to Hilton Tokyo PLUS my own expectations of a branded hotel.

The breakfast at the Hilton Osaka was fairly good. I did enjoy eating in the Executive Lounge as it was peaceful. The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. They also have a beautiful indoor garden which was a nice to see each time you leave and return to your room.

Smooth check-in. Very polite and respectful staff from porters to front desk staff. View from room was magnificent. We got to the hotel before official check-in time and wanted a place to relax. The concierge gave our family complimentary tickets to the observation deck while we waited.

The interconnecting rooms are spacious and amenities are v thoughtful. The location is perfect with JR and subway just next to it. However, the staff seems clueless and inexperienced during 2 incidents. 1. Lost my hp shortly after check-in. All the staff did was” we don’t have your hp”.
