We had an excellent stay at the Westin Miyako. The hotel is in a great location for sightseeing, while it is a bit of a walk or drive to the downtown/Gion area. They provide a shuttle to this area as well as the Kyoto Station, which is very convenient. The Keage subway stop is literally out the front door so taking this is very easy. We stayed in a Japenese style room, and although the hotel is dated and in need of a renovation, everything was kept up very well and service was excellent.

This is a very nice hotel in a great location. It’s close to many temples and the Gion area with its traditional cobbled streets. The hotel has a frequent shuttle bus to and from Kyoto station with stops in Gion – it was very convenient so we rarely needed to use public transport. The hotel also has a great walking trail just for guests. It was really pretty and well maintained.

I loved Nanzenji (an area in Kyoto), Iโd return for sure. Loved the room. Loved the aesthetics, the experience, the food. Not the service. Possibly one of the most shocking one to me in a while โ by *any* countryโs standards, not just Japan.

I loved the room we booked with the view of the garden and our own tub. The restaurant was a lovely experience, a beautiful view and all the meals were great. The staff was warm and kind. I prefer to stay at smaller, boutique style hotels with charm, so this fit the description within our needs. I loved that it was 1 minute walk to a BlueBottle Coffee (as they don’t serve coffee at the ryokan), 5 minute walk to the beautiful Nanzen-ji Temple, and about 20 minutes to the outer point of Higashiyama town so there were some cute shops and restaurants within walking distance, but you will want to wear your proper walking shoes.

What a great experience–spending the night in a traditional Japanese inn. We slept on futons on the floor, and experienced a private onsen communal bath. Luckily, I was the only one at the time. There were only 8 rooms and 10 guests. I went with my 44 year old daughter.

Our first stay at a ryokan. Staff at Yuzuya was terrific – they took time to explain some of the nuances that are unique to this type of hotel. Our room was clean and spacious. The futons are low and there are no western style sitting spaces in the room, so be prepared. If you have knee problems, this might be a challenge.

Perfect location, walking distance to many places you would love to see in Kyoto. In the shop on the ground floor you can find many small and cute gifts to bring home from the trip. The room is very spacious and in Japanese style, which is you should be aware prior booking the place. Breakfast served every morning in the room and it is also Japanese breakfast you should be prepared for. Personnel is very welcoming and always ready to assist with any queries.

A beautiful suite and lovely boutique feel. The location couldnโt be better in Gion district. The bathroom was awesome and bed excellent. Unexpectedly there was a separate room to meditate and an outdoor rock garden just for the room. I used this location as a base and did daily trips to Nara and Hiroshima.

This is my third stay at a ryokan in Kyoto, and it has been the most satisfying among those I have visited. The management is well-maintained, and the cleanliness and garden conditions are good. The staff is very warm and friendly. There are staff members who can speak English. I sent a few emails before arriving and was anxious because I did not receive a reply, but since they answer phone calls well, I recommend calling if you need to communicate with the hotel.

It was our first time staying at a Ryokan, and it happened to be the best one so far! Before we arrived at Ryokan Genhouin I was already anticipating the the famous Ryokan Hospitality, and we were not disappointed. The staff were incredibly friendly and even guided us around the place showing us the facilities that are available. The facilities and rooms were clean and well maintained, the garden is really beautiful. All in all it was an amazing experience and place to stay the night!.

My first time to visit Japan and I wanna stay at somewhere that represents Japanese tradition style. This Aoi villa is located next to the philosophy path and itโs such a peaceful and beautiful spot next to the mountain. 5mins wall to the nearest bus stop, the bus can take u to Kyoto station and all the shopping mall in city. Itโs such a convenient spot and I really love the design of this accommodation. The staff are all very nice especially Svan, heโs very helpful with providing recommendations and directions.

Breakfast was really good, staff was very very helpful and responsive! The Villa was very clean and comfortable, each room has it’s own bathroom and shower and bathtub, we travel with 2 babies so it was perfect for us! Location is right behind philosopher’s path, very quiet area which we love. We stay there for 6 nights, truly enjoy it to the fullest.
