This hotel was a wonderful surprise for us! It is much better than the pictures reveal. The lobby and outdoor areas are very beautiful, the decorating is chic: classic, tasteful, up to date. The dining area was a mini atrium with an exceptional breakfast and great coffee. It was such a pleasant place to spend a couple hours every morning before we went out for miles of walking and touring. Our room was elegant and spacious with luxurious beds.

the hotel entrance seems like youre entering a beautiful old winery. a big white wall with gold lettering opens into a great little courtyard with tables and chairs, dotted with large pot plants of lemon trees. welcoming and helpful staff at reception, in the bar and friendly cleaning staff. a nice 1k walk along river to main square and shopping. staff at hotel organized a terrific winery tour for an afternoon on the whole the 2 days we spent at the montebello were great.

My husband and I are traveling through Italy and this was our first stop. Unfortunately, the other hotels along our trip just don’t live up to this one! The amentities were great (your stay includes a nice sized gym to use, and access to the spa with very reasonably priced services), the hotel was so clean, chic, and centrally located (very convenient to get around), and the concierge staff was wonderful! Marta, Michael and another woman (I didn’t catch her name) were so helpful and not only made great recommendations for Florence, but also for Siena and Naples. The hotel rooms were also the most spacious that we’ve had, and the most comfortable beds. The bathroom was huge with his and hers sinks. I hope to get back to Florence some day and will definitely stay here again!.

I had mostly good experience with the hotel except a few mishaps. The hotel staff’s service was excellent, it was home to a Michelin 3 Star restaurant and they even had a steam bath inside the room. The room was very dimly lit, the heater was leaking water, and the hot flask tripped, which tripped the entire room’s electricity, and spoiled the fridge and my iPhone charger cable (my only one btw). Luckily the hotel manager gave me a spare iPhone cable. Most of the staff showed me utmost respect and courtesy except one blond young chap who worked during the night shift.

The Santa Croce displayed a high level of professionalism, good manners and customer service from the moment we stepped in till the time we had to leave. Our room was immaculate and very well appointed. The public rooms in the hotel need to be seen to be believed. We felt as though we were staying in one of the opulent palaces Florence is so famous for. Its location was ideal for us being easy to find by car even in the historic district.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights with our 2 daughters in a very comfortable spacious room overlooking the Arno river. The room is and hotel are designed in a lovely Florentine style, everything was clean and well maintained, bathrooms were spotless with a walk in shower and a bath with shower which was really convenient for the girls. We received a very warm welcome, candy treats and refreshing water is always available at the reception. Location was pleasantly surprising. It is located on the banks of the Arno river but outside the old centre which was surprisingly convenient.

I have stayed at this hotel before, and it is one of my favorites. This is the first time I have been there since they have added an annex, however, and the decor is different from the original hotel. I was upgraded to a junior suite, which I appreciated. It was beautiful, and the bed was excellent, as were the linens. All on all, this remains one of my favorite hotels.

By far the best location in Florence. If you like shopping, this is your place because all of the high end stores are right next to the hotel. It is in the middle of the historic center where all of the key museums and galleries are located. The staff is phenomenal and took care of anything and everything we needed. Their spa is at another level.
